Helping adults manage their grief
Your grief feels dark, heavy, or even impossible to deal with
Most people who start therapy for grief and loss feel a bit overwhelmed with what they are feeling.
And you may feel very alone. Maybe it’s because you’re fearful that bringing up your grief will hurt people in your life. Or it could be that even if you do bring up your grief, no one understands you. The worst part can be when people say things like “he’s in a better place” - phrases that do not feel comforting, or make you feel worse.
In life, it may have become a struggle to look forward to anything or you're noticing that you’re often exhausted and unfulfilled. Everything just turned gray. The colors are flat. And you feel that way too.
Do You Feel Sad, Guilty, Overwhelmed?
Do any of the following resonate with you?
If these sound true for you, I want you to know that you're not "crazy." It’s very common for humans experiencing grief to question, “I don’t know if I’m doing grief very well.” Even though you might feel alone, what you are going through is common and it's okay to ask for help.
Grief Support Is Here For You
You can get support managing the grief. It’s possible to…
Get Someone To Walk Alongside You, For As Long As You Need
Here, your grief and loss isn’t on a time table
There’s no limits around what you can and can’t say or can or can’t feel or how long you need to grieve.
Therapy for grief and loss means that you’ll have someone with you, helping withstand the overwhelm of grief. Overwhelm may be a good word for it because often, we can’t even explain what we’re feeling. It’s just a lot. And support can help.
Even if you’re embarrassed about your grief, therapy helps. I’ve sat with people in grief so they aren’t by themselves in what they are going through. My clients go from feeling isolated, like no one “gets” how they feel, to having someone who fully sees and understands them, and can be there ongoing.
